David Whelan is a film and television executive with over 25 years of hands-on and managerial experience in all areas of the film, television and multi-media industry. After completing an apprentice in the film and television department of Thames Television back in the early 1980's, David went on to work on some of British television's most acclaimed productions such as 'The World at War' and 'This Week'. After periods working for television news and in Premiership football sports production, David was given the responsibility of helping to set up ISL Productions in 1995, a multi-million dollar production company; that was responsible for most of the television and new media production of all of the major sports federations in the world, such as the IOC, FIFA, UEFA, ATP, IAAF and UCI. ISL also pushed the boundaries of television production, with numerous award winning global weekly shows such as FIFA TV, Football Africa and The ATP Tennis Show, delivered to all platforms across all markets. David subsequently pioneered the near-live broadcast of 2002 world cup football matches on FIFA.COM in partnership with Yahoo; all of the 2002 matches were edited as-live and streamed to a global audience of millions and subsequently archived on-line for future download revenues. In the last few years, David has been an Executive Director for all of FIFA and its rights holder's television post production needs, where he managed four technical and new media areas, including television and new media production, full digital and analogue facilities, new media content management and promotional and marketing business. In 2005, David created and produced the official FIFA World Cup Promo and David was also the Executive Producer for the highly acclaimed Official FIFA World Film, Coupe De Monde.
